The SureCommand Case Profiles page holds the firm's templates for each kind of matter — a contract dispute, a lease termination, an insurance claim — each with its ID, procedure type and name. Every new case is opened from a profile, so it starts with the right procedure, arguments and case law already in place.
The Details tab of a case profile records its ID, procedure type and name, and sets which roles — lawyer, paralegal, legal assistant — are permitted to use it.
The Notes tab keeps the firm's working notes on the profile — initial consultation guidance, evidence checklists, dealings with opposing counsel — each with its subject, body, author and timestamp.
The Case Law tab builds the library of precedents that apply to this kind of matter, each with its name, author and timestamp. Cases opened from the profile inherit the library, so the research is done once and reused.
The Arguments tab stores the standard complainant and defence arguments for the profile — that a breach of contract is established, that a force majeure defence fails — each with its name, type, body, author and timestamp, ready to be attached to statements on any case.
The Procedures tab defines the step-by-step procedure a case will follow. Each step has a number, a name and up to five recorded outcomes, and each outcome points to the next step, which is what drives the branching procedure flowchart on every case.
The Units page organises the firm into practice groups — litigation, contracts, compliance — each with its name, number of members and a description of what it handles, so matters can be routed to the right team.
The SureCommand List of Cases page is the firm's home base, sorting every matter into Open, Closed, Cold, Disregarded and Shared views. Each row carries the case number, case name, matter type, client, case manager, next action date, any subcontractor engaged on the file and the current retainer balance, so partners can see at a glance which matters need attention and which are running low on funds. Bulk actions can be applied to any selection, and a new case is one click away.
The SureCommand Case Overview is the front page of every matter: case number, status, case name, client, position, jurisdiction, procedure type, case profile, adjudication type, adjudicating body, who shared the file, dates opened and closed, case manager, defendants, complainants, persons involved and retainer amount, followed by the synopsis. The whole case can be exported to PDF from the same page.
The Procedure page walks the matter through the steps defined in its case profile — pleadings, documentary discovery, examinations for discovery, mandatory mediation and onward — as a branching flowchart. Each step records the outcome chosen (a statement of defence filed, a motion to compel required) and the step it leads to, with a progress bar showing how far the case has advanced.
The Statements page lists every statement taken on the matter, split into Active and Inactive, with the date, the subject who gave it, the statement it references, its type and the text itself. Bulk actions apply to any selection of statements.
Adding a statement records the date, the subject giving it, the statement type — a complaint, for example — the earlier statement it responds to, the text of the statement and any supporting document.
Opening a statement shows its date, subject, type, reference, sequence and text, with the arguments built on it and its supporting document beneath. Arguments can be added to the statement directly or attached from the case profile's library.
The Instructions page records the directions given on the matter — a discovery strategy, for example — each with its ID, date, subject, the instruction itself and who gave it, so the whole team works from the same brief.
Creating an instruction captures the event date, a subject line and the instruction text. It appears in the list beneath the form the moment it is added.
Opening an instruction shows the event date, subject and full text, and lets the author update or delete it as the strategy on the file evolves.
The Subjects page lists every person and organization connected to the matter — plaintiff, subcontractor, witnesses, defendant, third-party carrier — with their position on the case, address, email and phone numbers. Subjects are added from the firm's profiles and removed in one click.
The Work Orders page attaches the firm's tasks to the matter, showing each ticket with its priority, name, type, start and due dates, department, status and assignee. Document production requests, depositions and damages reviews are tracked to completion against the case they serve.
Creating a work order from the case assigns it to a department, role, person and project, then sets who it is created for, the priority, name, type and details. Existing work orders can be attached to the case instead.
The Case Calendar plots every work order and court date on the matter across month, week and day views, so the lawyer sees at a glance what is due this week and what is coming next month.
Clicking any entry opens its details — ID, title, category, start and end dates and department — with a link straight through to the full event.
The Documents page holds every file on the matter — shipping records, contracts, surveillance video — with a preview, ID, date created, type, description, source, the subjects it concerns and who uploaded it. The list filters by source and type and is searchable.
Opening a document lets counsel edit its description, dates created and received, format and document type and source, and attach the subjects involved with the document, so every exhibit is tied to the people it concerns.
The SureCommand Case Notes page keeps the running narrative of the matter — client intake calls, document production strategy and every other working note — each with its event date and time, subject, author and the timestamp it was recorded. The list is searchable, so any note can be found in seconds.
Creating a note records the event date and time, a subject line, the persons involved (selected from the subjects on the case) and the note itself. Tying each note to the individuals it concerns makes the timeline and the subject profiles richer with every entry.
Opening a note shows its event date and time, subject, the subjects involved and the full text directly beneath the list, so the lawyer never loses their place while reading through the file.
The Communications page logs every telephone call, email, text, letter and message exchanged on the matter, with the event date and time, subject, the staff member involved and when it was recorded. Counsel can see the full contact history with claimants, witnesses, opposing counsel and clients in one place.
Recording a communication captures its type, event date and time, subject, the persons involved and a note of what was said. Nothing depends on memory, and the record is available to everyone on the case immediately.

The Occurrences page links occurrence reports from the SureCommand security platform to the matter, showing the timestamp, ID, address, GPS geotag and author of each report with a PDF of the original. Reports geotagged outside the expected location are flagged, so counsel can spot inconsistencies between where a report claims to have been written and where it actually was.
The Incidents page attaches incident reports to the matter with their timestamp, address, geotag, category and subcategory — theft of cargo, after-hours trespassing, loading dock property damage and more — together with the author and a PDF of the report. Patterns across incidents become visible when they are collected against one file.
The Surveillance page lists every surveillance record on the matter with its ID, date, time, target (a person, vehicle or address), a map pin for the location, whether attachments were captured and the investigator who recorded it. Field observations gathered by investigators feed straight into the legal file.
Recording surveillance captures the date and time, current weather, the target being observed and the activities witnessed. The GPS geotag of the device is stamped on the record automatically, so the location of the observation is never in question.
Opening a surveillance record shows the date, time, weather, target, geotag and the activities recorded, with photos and video added or attached beneath it so the evidence stays with the observation it supports.
The Adjudication section of the case gathers everything that happens before the court or tribunal — Details, Docket, Motions, Statutes, Examination, Transcripts, Case Law, Arguments, Rulings and Remedy. The Details page records the adjudication type and the adjudicating body hearing the matter.
Editing the court details sets the adjudication type and selects the adjudicating body — the Ontario Superior Court of Justice or the Court of Appeal, for example — from the courts and tribunals configured for the firm.
The Docket page lists every court date on the matter with its date, start and finish time, the courthouse address and the subject of the appearance — case management conferences, motion hearings and trial dates alike — so no appearance is ever missed.

Adding a motion captures its name, a description of the relief sought, the subjects involved and the documents that support it, so the motion record is assembled in the same place the motion is drafted.

The Statutes page collects the legislation the matter turns on — the Sale of Goods Act or the Limitations Act, for example — each with its section, jurisdiction, citation link, a note on its relevance to the case, the persons involved and the number of supporting documents. The legal basis of the file is visible at a glance.
Adding a statute captures the name of the act, the section relied on, the jurisdiction, a citation or link to the legislation, a note on why it matters to the case and the subjects it concerns.
Opening a statute shows the act, section, jurisdiction, citation, relevance, the persons involved and the documents attached to it — contracts, invoices and correspondence that bring the provision into play.
The Examination page prepares the questions for each witness, grouped into In Chief, Cross and Redirect. Each question carries its date so counsel can build, review and refine the examination in the order it will be put to the witness.
Adding a question sets the examination type, the subject being examined and the question itself, so the examination outline grows one question at a time with nothing lost between preparation sessions.
The Log page records the time spent on the matter — consultations, document review, research and court appearances — with start and finish date and time, total hours, the service performed and a description. Entries made in error are struck through rather than deleted, preserving the record.

The Revenue page lists every invoice raised on the matter with its date, invoice number, billing address, description, billing period, amount, outstanding balance, aging and status. Retainer deposits, document review and discovery preparation are billed from the case itself, and the firm always knows what has been paid.
Creating an invoice sets the billing period, due date and memo, then adds line items by service with a bill rate, quantity and the applicable sales taxes. Subtotals and totals are calculated as the line items are entered, so the invoice is right before it leaves the office.
Opening an invoice shows who submitted it, the billing dates, invoice number, matter number, total and the line items with their account, memo, rate, quantity, tax type and totals. A PDF can be generated and notes attached to the invoice.
Payments are processed against the invoice in the same view, with the date, amount, tax rate and description, and every transaction — invoice, partial payment, full payment — is listed beneath with its debit, credit and running balance.
The Expense page records the costs incurred on the matter — court filing fees, process servers, expert witness consultations and document production — each with its transaction number, date, type, invoice number, description, amount and balance owing.
Creating an expense selects the supplier, records the invoice number, received date, invoice date and due date, adds a memo and uploads the supplier's invoice, then itemises the line items. Every disbursement is captured against the case it belongs to.
Opening an expense shows who submitted it, the invoice and due dates, the total, the memo and the line items with their account, quantity, unit price, tax and totals. An invoice entered in error can be reversed rather than deleted, preserving the audit trail.
Paying an expense records the payment date, type, the account it is paid from, the amount, tax, payment method and a description. Each payment is listed in the transactions beneath, so the balance owing to each supplier is always current.
The Assets page tracks funds held on the matter — prepaid retainer trust deposits and notes receivable — each with its transaction number, date, type, the person it relates to, a description, amount and balance.
Creating a receivable records the receiver, date, the account the funds come from, the term in months and interest rate, a description and a supporting file, then itemises the line items by type of receivable.
Opening a receivable shows the source, amount, date, term, interest, description and documents, with the line items beneath. A receivable can be reversed when it is settled or entered in error.
The Liability page tracks the retainer on the matter — the initial retainer agreement, the deposit received and each amount applied to an invoice — with the transaction ID, date, type, account, description, amount and remaining balance. The firm always knows how much of the client's money remains in trust.
Creating a retainer records who submitted it, a memo and the signed retainer contract, then itemises the line items by type with a memo and amount. The retainer balance shown on the case list is maintained from here.
Opening a retainer shows the client, amount, date, the case it belongs to, the description and its documents, with the line items beneath — accrued expert fees, for example, that have been incurred but not yet billed.
The Rates page sets the billing rate for each service on the matter — lead counsel, case manager, paralegal — at standard, holiday and overtime rates. Invoices and time logs draw on these rates, so billing is consistent across everyone who works the file.
The Timeline page assembles statements, court dates, communications and every other dated record into one chronological sequence of events, each with its date, time, the subjects involved, a description and its type. A date slider narrows the view to any window, making it straightforward to reconstruct exactly what happened in any period of the matter.
The Access page controls who can open the matter, listing each person with their profile ID, picture, name, role — legal team or subcontractor — email and phone numbers. Subcontractors are granted access for the life of their engagement and removed in one click when it ends.
The Access Log records every time the matter is opened — the timestamp, the user and the page they viewed — giving the firm a complete audit trail of who has looked at the file and when.
The SureCommand Legal Calendar shows the whole firm's month one day at a time, with the number of trials and tasks scheduled on each day. Partners can see where the pressure points are before they arrive.
Opening a day lists its trials and work orders with the case ID, title, type and time, and any entry can be pushed to Outlook so it appears on the lawyer's own calendar.
The Legal Team page lists the firm's lawyers, paralegals and legal assistants with their photo, name, availability flag, manager, city, phone number and email, so the case manager can see who is available before assigning work.
The Subcontractors page lists the outside investigators, experts and agents the firm engages, with their photo, name and phone number. Subcontractors are added here and then granted access to the specific cases they work on.
